We use Google Analytics 4, collect newsletter email addresses only when you submit the form, and use affiliate links in some guides. We do not sell personal information or offer public accounts or payments.
The short version
HowTo.Monster is an editorial reference site. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic, accept email addresses when you choose to subscribe to the weekly dispatch, and use affiliate links in some guides. We do not offer public user accounts, process payments, sell personal information, or run advertising on the site.
This policy explains those limited activities. It is not legal advice and does not replace any rights you may have under applicable law.
Information we collect
Newsletter email addresses. If you submit the newsletter form, we collect the email address you enter, the date and time you subscribed, and the page or site area that supplied the form. The address is stored in our Convex subscribers database so we can manage the weekly dispatch.
Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-1GS0473N0F) on our pages. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure visits, returning visits, device and browser characteristics, and how people use the site. Our implementation requests IP anonymization. We do not intentionally send your name or newsletter email address to Google Analytics.
Affiliate-link activity. Some guides contain Amazon Associates links. When you follow one, Amazon and other destination sites may collect information under their own policies and may use cookies or similar technologies to attribute a qualifying purchase. We do not receive your payment details from Amazon.
How we use and share it
We use newsletter email addresses to operate the dispatch and to maintain the subscription record. We use analytics data to understand readership and improve the site. We use affiliate-link attribution to support the editorial through commissions on qualifying purchases.
We do not sell or rent newsletter email addresses. We share information only with service providers needed for these functions, including Google Analytics for analytics, Convex for newsletter-data storage, and retailers when you choose to follow an outbound affiliate link. Those providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Cookies and your choices
Google Analytics may place and read cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. Amazon and other sites reached through outbound links may do the same after you leave HowTo.Monster. You can control cookies through your browser settings and may use Google’s Analytics opt-out tools. Blocking or deleting cookies can affect how sites remember preferences or measure visits.
You do not need to provide an email address to read the site. If you have subscribed and want us to remove your email address from the subscriber list, contact us at privacy@howto.monster from that address. We will process reasonable requests consistent with our operational and legal needs.
Retention and security
We retain newsletter subscription records for as long as they are useful to operate the dispatch, unless you ask us to remove them or retention is otherwise required. Analytics data is retained according to the settings and policies of Google Analytics. We use reasonable safeguards for the limited data we hold, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Other sites and changes
HowTo.Monster links to third-party sources, retailers, and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own; read their policies before providing them information or making a purchase.
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@howto.monster.
